I am passionate about changing the face of Corporate America and helping move from an environment of competition to a collaborative environment and creating a Win/Win for everyone.  I believe that middle managers are the backbone to an organization.  They are the bridge between the front line employees and the executive suite.  They can make or break an organization.  By empowering and engaging their employees they have an impact to the bottom line.  I help managers create an environment where their people and results can soar!  I especially focus on IT managers and help "Make IT real".

I believe it starts with Awareness of who we are at our core and who our employees really are.  What are our values, our shared values as well as our mission and vision.  We need to know where we are starting from before we can Align ourselves to where we want to go.  Once we are clear and have goals that are aligned with our values we can Achieve anything we set our mind to.

I offer DiSC assessments to gain that inner awareness and one on one coaching to help you become the effective leader you want to be.  Contact me for a complimentary consultation to see how we might work together.

Motivating your team is imperative to the well being of its members and the accomplishment of the goal.  While motivating others isn't always easy, there are ways you can help to unleash the power and potential of your team.  Here are a few powerful leadership skills you can easily incorporate to bring out the best in others:

  1. Ask questions rather than give direct orders.
  2. Give specific and sincere praise for accomplishments, so as to let people know that you have…

Do Others Know What You Expect?

Posted on January 9, 2012 at 7:06pm 0 Comments

Too often managers don't communicate the goals and requirements of their team, but instead leave them unsure what to do and how to do it.  This results in hesitation, indecision, lack of performance and miscommunication.

Properly setting expectations for team members will set standards for excellence and results.  Here are a few tips on how to do that:

1.  Start with a vision of what you want the end result to look like.  Not just what you want done, but the results you…

Empower Your Team Members to be Their Best

Posted on August 12, 2011 at 11:36am 0 Comments

Are you ready to have a more positive impact on those you lead?  Would you like to be the one who empowers others to be their best?  When good leaders are effectively empowering their team, their lives are easier and their team is happier.  When teams are empowered, leaders don't spend nearly as much time checking up, putting out fires, or lighting fires under people who are not motivated.  When people feel empowered, they will be at their best and get their best results.  When your team is… Continue

Quiet Leadership: The High-Performance Secret

Posted on June 18, 2011 at 7:30am 3 Comments

When we think of leadership, we think of the commanding, visionary person who takes charge in a time of crisis and leads his company to victory when all seems lost.  Although this type of leader is what we think of most, there's another form of leadership that ultimately may be more effective at achieving high performance.  It's called "quiet leadership".

One of the primary traits of quiet leadership is leading by example, and eliciting the behavior you want by demonstrating…

Nice post Sylvia.  I agree with you on these 3 traits.  I would add to that list responsibility.  I believe we must all take responsibility for our actions.  It is always concerning when our trust is broken.
